It can be added to the factory WAVE or BOOST stereo or an aftermarket one. The system takes up no room in the car as the amplifier is mounted under the seat.

The JL Stealthbox® solution for the Mini Cooper delivers solid bass performance while preserving as much precious hatch space as possible. The Stealthbox® installs on the left side and is contoured to permit access to the seat release latch and the 12V power port.
A single 10W3v3-4 subwoofer driver is slot-loaded into the corner of the hatch to maximize bass impact while also shielding the subwoofer driver from loose cargo. The enclosure does not impede access to the spare tire in the Cooper or the battery in the "Cooper S" model and leaves plenty of space for amplifier installation.

Our favourite amplifier. This 4 channel Kenwood has a max power of 720 watts. It is highly flexible & can be used in 2 channel mode 2* 180 watts rated at 4 ohms or 3 channel mode to run 2 speakers & a subwoofer, or 4 channels. It is rated at 4*50 watts 4 ohms or 4*75 at 2 ohms. It has built in high & low pass filters & high & low level inputs so it will work with both factory & aftermarket stereos. The is also a built in cooling fan.
This amp will fit under the front seats in a Mini, so doesn't take up valuable space.
