DIY folding mirrors |
1. Remove cover from back of mirror
2. Fold mirror & remove 3 allen bolts securing it to door
3. Pull away from door & disconnect plug 4. Remove rubber grommet & fit to new mirror
5. Slide off socket from old mirror chop wires (3 wires on standard, 5 on
heated) and join wires to new mirror before sliding socket onto new mirror
6. Your mirror should now look like this (BELOW) but with 2 wires trailing (we will fit
the trailing wires before sending out the kit 7. Very carefully prise the mirror glass from the old mirror (it will have 2
black wires attached if it is heated) It should then look like the left mirror
here 8. Remove central adjuster mechanism shown on the previous pic (held in with 3 screws & one plug) and fit to the new mirror 9. Fit the mirror glass to the new mirror 10. Feed the wires in through the hole in the door 11. Fit the new mirror into place & bolt down. Using cable ties run the new loom along with the existing loom in the door down to the rubber tube. 12. Prise the rubber tube from the door 13. Undo the 8mm bolt holding the tube to the a pillar 14. With door half open pull tube & mounting away from pillar 15. Undo plug (sliding lock) then pull plug from rubber housing
16. Thread wires through the door tube so they appear like above 17. Find a section of the plug with no pins/wires and drill two of the holes to
2mm 18. Thread the wires through from behind so they appear sticking out of the face of the plug (this pic shows 2 of 6 wires but you will only be doing 2 wires total) Side view 19. If you use the section of the plug that I have here then the socket will have a large gap for the wires to run through. Thread the wires though the socket then insert the plug to look like this below
20. Run the wires through the hole in the a pillar then through a grommet in the a pillar inner skin into the passenger cabin (seal the grommet once the wires are through) 21. Refit the the door tube assembly (easiest with door half open - beware of trapping fingers like I did) 22. Carefully route the wires to the drivers side dash. If fitting the auto remote system go to step MANUAL SWITCHED SYSTEM If using a manual switch, route the wires to where you are mounting the switch (headlamp adjuster blank) Connect the blue wire to terminal 1, yellow to 5. Connect terminal 3 to a fused live & terminals 2 & 4 to earth. Our power take off kit can be used to provide the earth & live without splicing any of the cars wiring. AUTO REMOTE FOLDING MIRRORS Car must have the factory alarm. Remove the dash end panel (drivers side) Run wires from each mirror to this location. The module needs a fused permanent live & earth (we offer a power take off kit which provides these without splicing car wires) Run a wire from this location to the roof mounted alarm sensors (avoiding any
airbags) and connect to the red/black wire on the sensor. (a pin is provided in
the kit to avoid splicing the wire) Connect all these wires to the mirror module as per instructions included with the kit. The module can then be mounted in the dash end panel If you also would like a 1 touch manual close/open button in the car, please request a switch. (this can be mounted in the mirror adjuster panel.
