Changing the Wave or Boost radio in a Mini is a simple process (providing you
use a radio fitting kit)
These instructions do not apply to the HK system as aftermarket radios
will not work with the HK amp/speakers
Tools required; Torx drivers (T20 & T40) flat blade screw driver, philips
screwdriver.
Parts required; New stereo, Radio fitting kit (boost or wave)
- Remove key.
If
car has glove box, open it, if car has drivers dash panel, pull down towards
floor (it is held in by 1 pop clip each side)

Remove 2 torx screws from the side of each dash pillar (T40 early cars,
T20 later)
Remove
screws from front cup holders

Carefully
lever out mirror switch panel and remove 2 screws from under it.
Slide centre console backwards about 5cm
Push down on each pillar in turn and pull from top towards you (take care
not to scratch dash)
Undo 4 T20 screws holding radio in
& slide it out
Unlock & unplug aerial lead
& bung
Unlock & unplug power lead (Wave has sliding lock, boost hinged lock)
pic shows wave

Plug in aerial & harness adaptors
- Attach rubber bung to back of new radio
Fit
facia adaptor using radio screws
Insert
new radio cage and bend back lock tabs
You
are now left with the standard ISO radio plugs to attach to your radio, plug
in and slide into dash.
Test
Refit
pillars by pushing down & forwards, slide centre console back into place
& refit all screws
Radio can now be removed/refitted without stripping dash.
Note; Some USA radios come without ISO connectors - in this case remove the
ISO plug from the harness adaptor & join to the radio wires. (normally color
to color)
